Introduction
Sharing Me ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
We believe your thoughts and memories are deeply personal. That's why we designed Sharing Me with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought.
Information we collect
Data you provide
- Journal entries. The thoughts and quotes you write in the app.
- Scribbles. Drawings you create within the app.
- Private notes. Additional notes you mark as private.
- Account information. Email address and name (only if you sign in).
- Circle information. Names and themes of the circles you create.
Data collected automatically
- Device information. Device type, operating system version.
- App usage. Features used, crash reports.
- Analytics. Anonymous usage statistics.
How we store your data
Free users (offline mode)
If you use Sharing Me without signing in, all your data stays on your device. We never see, access, or store your journal entries. Your data is backed up through your device's native backup system (iCloud for iOS, Google Backup for Android).
Premium users (cloud sync)
If you sign in and subscribe to Premium, your journal entries are stored on our secure servers so you can sync across multiple devices, access the web app, and share with circle members. Our servers are located in Germany and operated under German data protection law (GDPR).
Private notes
Private notes are stored on our servers but never shared with circle members. Only you can see your private notes. They are excluded from circle sharing and visible only to you.
Encryption
For Premium users, we offer optional end-to-end encryption for circles. When enabled, your journal entries are encrypted before leaving your device. Only circle members with the passphrase can read them, and we cannot read the encrypted content.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Sign-In. For account authentication (optional).
- Apple Sign-In. For account authentication on iOS (optional).
- RevenueCat. For subscription management.
- Wiredash. For anonymous analytics and crash reporting.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data:
- With circle members you explicitly invite.
- With authentication providers (Google, Apple) for login purposes only.
- With payment processors (via RevenueCat) for subscription management only.
- When required by law.
Your rights (GDPR)
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access. Request a copy of your data.
- Rectification. Correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure. Delete your account and all associated data.
- Portability. Export your data in a common format.
- Object. Opt out of certain data processing.

Account deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- Open the app and go to Settings.
- Tap "Delete Account".
- Confirm the deletion.
This will permanently delete all your synced data from our servers. Data stored locally on your device will remain until you uninstall the app.
Data retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. After account deletion:
- Personal data is deleted within 30 days.
- Backups are purged within 90 days.
- Anonymous analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
Children's privacy
Sharing Me is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
